Top 5 Mexican Restaurants – Grapevine Area

Let’s face it. It needed to be done. So here is our ranking of the top 5 Mexican Restaurants in the Grapevine area.

1. Mi Cocina
Mi Cocina excels at so many things, it really is difficult to find a fault. The food is always fresh and delicious. The service is wonderful. And the food is reasonably priced compared to other restaurants on our list with the enchilada dinner at $8.95 and fajitas at $13.95. Margaritas are excellent as well although a tad on the rich side at $8. If you enjoy a great Mexican restaurant as much as we do, you really can’t go wrong here.

2. Esparza’s
Located in the heart of Grapevine’s downtown historic district is Esparza’s Restaurante Mexicano. Esparza’s wins major points with us for atmosphere alone. Food is also high quality here from a fairly large selection of menu items. We highly recommend the Sour Cream and Chicken Nachos. Fajitas here will cost you about $13. Esparza’s grades out at an “A” all the way around. We also recommend you limit yourself to just two margarita’s here. They are notoriously strong.

3. Gloria’s
Located in Colleyville, Gloria’s serves Mexican and Salvadorian food. The restaurant has a great casual feel and a very nice patio area. It wins a lot of points with us for the $3 house margaritas (as well as mojitos and sangria) Sunday through Thursday ALL DAY. Fajitas also cost about $13 here.

4. Uncle Julio’s
Uncle Julio’s is a recent addition to Grapevine. The salsa is served warm here and the beers and frozen swirl margaritas (which are excellent) are ice cold. The food is consistently good. The service is good too although Uncle Julio’s can be very busy at times.

5. Rio Mambo
If you haven’t tried Rio Mambo yet, we recommend you give it a shot. We still can’t figure out how this is ranked at number five overall, but the competition is very tough. Rio Mambo features possibly the best patio in the area. It also serves up a wide variety of unique menu items. The Alambre de Camerones (jumbo shrimp stuffed with Monterrey jack cheese, a slice of jalapeno, and wrapped in bacon) are very good. Sunday brunch is also popular and quite enjoyable. Try the Mimosa’s ($2).
