We paid a visit to the local Farmers Market last weekend in downtown Grapevine. There were several vendors there set up to sell their fruits, vegetables, homemade jellies, and other culinary goods. What a great way to shop for fresh, locally grown produce. Everyone was friendly and very proud of their locally grown goods. We enjoyed our visit and were happy to support local farmers.
The Grapevine Farmers Market is located at 325 South Main Street in the heart of downtown Grapevine (next to the Gazebo). The Farmers Market is open Thursday through Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm from May 27th through October 30th.
Here’s a list of what is currently in season:
Baby New Potatoes
Shelled Peas and Beans
Vine Ripe Tomatoes
Texas Cantaloupe and Honeydew
Vidalia Sweet Onion

We can say we are definitely in love with their motto –
- Hot Chili
- Cold Beer
- Live Music
Those three things are simple and easy to love.
Tolbert's Bar Area
We visited Tolbert’s yesterday for lunch. The atmosphere is fantastic. Tolbert’s is located in the center of downtown Grapevine along Main Street. You walk in and are greeted by friendly staff. The first thing you notice is the huge bar along the left side of the restaurant. And in the back there is a nice sized stage for the live music that is played nightly.
The chili is some of the best we’ve ever had. It is worth a stop in just for that, and well, maybe an ice cold beer to go with it. Tolbert’s was opened by one of the original founders of the famous Terlingua Chili CookOff held in November every year in the Big Bend area of Texas.
The Tolbert’s website calls their food Southwestern Cuisine. We’d agree with that since you can get anything from burgers to enchiladas to the Grapevine Ribeye (which we will definitely go back and try).
On this visit we sampled the combination beef and chicken nachos which were excellent and the Guacamole Burger which was also very good.
The people are friendly. The pace is nice and relaxed. This really is a must stop restaurant for visitors to Grapevine and residents who happen into the downtown area as well.
We absolutely loved it and can not wait to get back and take in some of the live music.
Last night, we went to bed with these thoughts running through our head –
- Hot Chili
- Cold Beer
- Live Music
It really doesn’t get any better.

Every night from December 1st through January 3rd, the Holiday Lights Show Spectacular will be shown every half hour and hour at the Gazebo on Main Street.
From The Grapevine which is published by the City of Grapevine:
Hundreds of thousands of lights dance in synchronization to high energy and traditional holiday music. A must see holiday attraction.
This looks like another great holiday event that is held nightly in Historic Downtown Grapevine. This is worth seeing especially if you are already out doing you shopping or dinning in downtown.
