Day Out with Thomas are some of the most fun days of the year in Grapevine, Texas. For two weekends each spring, the Grapevine Vintage Railroad is transformed into Thomas the Train.


Held annually, the event features an approximately 25-minute train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine, Thomas & FriendsTM themed entertainment, storytelling, live music, building with Mega Bloks®, temporary tattoos of Island of Sodor friends and an Imagination Station with arts & crafts and more. Little engineers will also have the opportunity to meet Sir Topham Hatt, the Controller of the Railway on the Island of Sodor.

Parking in the area is free.

Thomas the Train in Grapevine 2011

It is almost time again for the annual Thomas the Train weekends in Grapevine, Texas.  This really has become a top five event for the City of Grapevine each year in terms of excitement and entertainment.  This event is perfect for kids of all ages to come out and see and ride on Thomas the Train.

When:  March 25, 26, 27 and April 1, 2, 3

Where:  Downtown Grapevine, Texas at the Grapevine Vintage Railroad at 705 Main St.

How Much:  Tickets to Ride the train are $18 each (ages 2 and up) plus service fees which are about $2.60 per ticket (see comments below the article) if you purchase online or phone through TicketWeb.

Update:  Please be aware of traffic issues related to the DFW Connector on the opening weekend March 25th to March 27th.

Trains depart each day 9:00am, 9:45am, 10:30am, 11:15am, 12:00pm, 12:45pm, 1:30pm, 2:15pm, 3:00pm, 3:45pm, 4:30pm, and 5:15pm.   The train ride lasts approximately 25 minutes.

Other activities include storytelling, a viewing station for Thomas & Friends videos, temporary tattoos, and an Imagination Station.  There will be carnival like food and drinks available for purchase.

There is plenty of parking and plenty of things to do for families even if you do not want to ride the train.  Come to downtown Grapevine for a day of fun and photo opportunities with Thomas the Train.
