Paradise Pond is a cool indoor kids area full of climbing walls, bounce houses, dress up rooms, and tons of other fun play areas.  Be warned that you might hear some fussing when you leave because your kids are not going to want to leave.

Paradise Pond costs only $1 per person (child or adult) and is targeted towards kids ages 2 through 6th grade.  It is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 9 am to 11 am.  They are open sometimes on Mondays, but you should check the Paradise Pond website for full details.

The fun things to do at Paradise Pond include:

Everyone is required to sign a liability waiver upon entering (although you do not have to sign every time you visit, only the first time).

No food, drink, or candy is allowed inside at anytime.

Paradise Pond is a good affordable way to take your kids out for some morning fun.  You can also rent Paradise Pond for birthdays for $150.  Sounds like a great deal!

We recently compiled a list of the Top 5 Things To Do In Grapevine, Texas.  Since we felt like that was really only covering a small portion of Grapevine, we thought we’d come up with a list of things that are a little off the beaten path.

1.  Austin Ranch
Visit one of the oldest working dude ranches in Texas.  Here you will enjoy riding horses through 90 shaded acres surrounding a 10-acre lake.  As they say on their website, you can kick back with a real Texas trail ride at Austin Ranch.  Austin Ranch Website

2.  Summit Climbing Gym
Get a group together and head over to Summit Climbing Gym for some indoor rock climbing.  This is a great way to exercise, build strength, or take part in team building activities.  Summit Climbing Gym does have 1 day passes available and sometimes have free events to give those wanna be rock climbers a reason to come try it out.  You should definitely call and make reservations if you want to go. 3.  Duck Rider Tours
Take a ride in these unique vehicles that will take you across land or sea (or in this case lake).  A ride on Duck Rider Tours will take you from several locations in Grapevine (Gaylord, Great Wolf Lodge, or Grapevine Mills Mall) for a 75 minute tour of Grapevine and Grapevine Lake.  Reservations are required.  Please see the website for more details.

4.  Xdrenaline Zone Paintball
Spend the morning or afternoon in a awesome paintball facility just east of Lake Grapevine.  Paintball is an adrenaline packed event that you can enjoy with friends and family.  The Xdrenaline Zone is typically open on weekends, but it always best to call ahead.  Please see their website for more details.  Xdrenaline Zone Website

5.  Love and War in Texas
Here you will enjoy the great taste of Texas food, a cold drink, and possibly some great live country music.  This is a great Texas restaurant and bar just outside of Grapevine Mills Mall.  Love and War in Texas Website

Whether you live in Grapevine or are just stopping by for a visit, here are five things you must do.

1. Main Street and Historic Downtown
Hanging out on Main Street is definitely one of our favorite things to do. 2. Grapevine Wine Trail
If you like to taste wines, this Wine Trail will give you a sample of each of the 8 wineries or tasting rooms in the City of Grapevine.  On the trail you will enjoy food samplings and three wine tastings at each winery.  You will also get to see why each winery and tasting room in Grapevine has its own unique characteristics.  For the wine lover, this is a must do in Grapevine. 3. Grapevine Vintage Railroad
You will ride in authentic Victorian style coaches like people did in the Old West.  The ride will take you from downtown Grapevine to the historic Stockyards in Fort Worth.  You will then have time to check out Cow Town in all of its nostalgic glory before taking a return trip on the train back to where you started.  This train ride is a fun and relaxing way to enjoy the afternoon. 4. Grapevine Mills Mall
With over 180 stores to shop in, this indoor outlet mall boast over 1.6 million square feet of shopping space.  In addition to the many shops, there is a 30 screen movie theater, indoor skate park, and plenty of places to stop and grab a bite to eat.  Just click here for a list of stores in Grapevine Mills.

5. Lake Grapevine
Lake Grapevine is one of the most popular lakes in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.  You could spend a day at one of the many parks surrounding the lake or exploring the numerous walking and biking trails in and around the parks. 

If you want to spend a night or weekend on the lake, the Vineyards Campgrounds have several cabins for rent that are about 20 yards from the shoreline.

Maybe you want to spend a day on the lake, Just For Fun has a number of boats and jet skis for rent.

We know that listing just the top 5 Things To Do is really only scratching the surface.  We did not even get to mention the hotels/resorts, amazing golf courses, and all the rest of the fun that Grapevine, Texas has to offer, but this is sure to get you off to a good start!

Grapevine Golf Course is one of the most popular public courses in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.  The 27 hole course is challenging for both the experienced golfer and the novice alike.  With very affordable rates from $30 on weekdays and from $35 on weekends, this course stays busy year round.

The yardage for each nine is as follows:

Pecan – Red 2,679  White 3,117  Blue 3,342  Black 3,571

Mockingbird - Red 2,432  White 2,959 Blue 3,188  Black 3,412

Bluebonnet – Red 2,522  White 2,977  Blue 3,196  Black 3,489

Each nine is the standard par 36.  The original 18 holes were designed by Byron Nelson and Joe Finger and opened in 1979.  The Bluebonnet 9 holes were designed by  D.A. Weibring’s Irving based design firm and opened in 1999.

The Grapevine Golf Course is located on the east side of Lake Grapevine just on the north end of the dam.  The proximity to the lake leads to lots of water on the course from ponds and creeks.  Most holes are also tree-lined.  This is a beautiful layout that is fun for any golfer.

We have often been told of how amazing the Cowboys Golf Club is in Grapevine, but have never taken the time play it or even tour it.  Well this past week we at least took the tour and now we really want to play it.  Even in the winter, this course is in amazing shape.
 
Cowboys Golf Club has won numerous awards including the #1 Daily Fee Course in Dallas/Fort Worth in 2008 by the Dallas Morning News and Golf Digests “Four Star Rating”.  Having visited and played many of the courses throughout the Metroplex, we now see why Cowboys is so highly rated.
 
The course is set on the southeast corner of Lake Grapevine right next to the dam.  This location has a wonderful hilly terrain which makes the course fun, but challenging.  The Silver Tees which are the middle tees for men make the course a very fair 6,563 yards.  The holes are lined with trees and the greens are very often protected by a number of bunkers.  If you are like us, you will need to work on your sand game before venturing out to Cowboys.
 
The clubhouse is not overly large, but is done with an executive feel.  The facilities are great for just a day out with buddies or for a large corporate function. 

We found the Cowboys Golf Club personnel to be extremely friendly and helpful.  They are proud of their course and they should be.
 
This  course is high on our list of things to do come spring time.  Please keep in mind all of the photos are winter photos.  We will update again next spring or summer as the green returns to the trees as well as the edges of the course.
 
Cowboys Golf Club is on the expensive side for the average golfer, but they have some great twilight rates in the summer that make playing this course reasonable.
If you love golf, Cowboys is truly a can’t miss course in Grapevine.  But bring your sand wedge!

Located in an old lake park, right next to the Lake Grapevine dam and Silver Lake Marina is Xdrenaline Zone Paintball.  This paintball park has both open field with obstacles and wooded courses located right off the banks of the lake.

Paintball is a true adrenaline rush which is why this name Xdrenaline Zone fits so well.  The courses here are fun and well thought out. If you enjoy paintball or just want to give it a try, this is a great place to do so.

Xdrenaline Zone is open all year.  The hours are typically every Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm, but please check the official Xdrenaline Zone website for any holiday hours and additional details.

Hall’s Pumpkin Farm is open now through October 31st providing fun for kids of all ages. In addition to the hayrides and corn maze there is face painting, mini tractor rides, and a mini hay maze for the really little ones. There are also hundreds and hundreds of pumpkins set up for viewing, picture taking, and purchasing.

Hall’s farm has been around for 80 years and is one of the last working farms in the area. The pumpkin patch is a great way to get out and be on the farm and pick out a pumpkin to take home.

General admission is free, but the corn maze costs five dollars and the hayrides are two dollars. We believe that most all of the pumpkins are for sale. This is really a fun way for kids and parents to get out and enjoy October here in Grapevine.
