Grapevine City Worker Injured by Street Sweeper

As reported on WFAA ABC news this morning, a Grapevine city worker was injured by one of those street sweeper vehicles this morning.  Early reports are that the worker was rolled over by the street sweeping vehicle.  The worker had to be airlifted by medical helicopter for emergency medical care.

The accident occured at William D. Tate Avenue and Mustang Drive early Friday morning.  More details to come on this story as they become available.

Note, this intersection is also known as the most dangerous intersection in Grapevine.

Update:  The person injured in the accident yesterday morning was not a City of Grapevine employee.

    Just to provide some additional information on this unfortunate accident:

    GRAPEVINE (CBSDFW.COM) – The driver of a street sweeper in Grapevine was hospitalized after his vehicle rolled over early Friday morning.

    According to police, the driver lost control in a construction zone and rolled the vehicle, coming to rest upside down in a ditch. The accident occurred just after midnight along William D. Tate Avenue near Mustang Drive.

    The man was trapped in the wreckage for an extended period of time, but was eventually freed by firefighters.

    He was taken to Parkland Hospital in Dallas. His injuries are said to not be life threatening.

    Just a note – it was not a City of Grapevine employee. It was a Northgate employee. The station reported it incorrectly. Hope he recovers quickly.
