GRACE Awards Volunteers at Appreciation Event

The Grapevine Relief and Community Exchange (GRACE) held its Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event on April 11th at the Hilton DFW Lakes Hotel & Conference Center. GRACE is a social service charity organization that provides emergency assistance and self-sufficiency programs to families and individuals in need in the Grapevine, Colleyville and Southlake, Texas areas.

Some 2,500 volunteers give their time and talents annually to support the charitable mission of GRACE, that is – -As a steward of God’s blessings and resources in our community, GRACE demonstrates compassion for those less fortunate by providing assistance to individuals and families in crisis and guidance toward self-sufficiency.

Among the near 250 attendees at the Event was GRACE founder, Tricia Wood, who offered the audience a great history of how GRACE started 25 years ago. Ms. Wood noted that GRACE’s mission was originally served by virtue of volunteers committed to make a difference in the community, and 25 years later, that still stands true.

GRACE gave 19 Outstanding Volunteer Awards, from Outstanding Youth Volunteer to Outstanding Food Pantry Volunteer. Kristine Elieson, wife of GRACE Board member John Elieson, was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award. Local attorney, Cory Halliburton, received the GRACE Board of Directors Outstanding Volunteer Award. Cory Halliburton is a shareholder with the law firm Weycer, Kaplan, Pulaski & Zuber, PC, and has served on the GRACE Board since August 2010. “I attended the volunteer appreciation event to support and thank the other GRACE volunteers,” Cory told GTO, “I had no idea I would be recognized.”
