Here is Part Two of our Best of Grapevine 2011 awards (link to part one in case you missed it). We hope you enjoyed part one as much as we did. Now on to the awards.
DV8 moved across the street into a new building this past year. Their new facility is right on the corner of Main Street and Dallas Road. Creativity and great service define this salon.
Cory D. Halliburton
Cory D. Halliburton of WEYCER, KAPLAN, PULASKI & ZUBER, P.C. Originally from Fredricksburg, Texas, Cory is now doing great things in and around the City of Grapevine.
The new restroom at Esparza’s is pretty tough to beat. Not only did they upgrade the restrooms this year, Esparza’s added an even larger ourdoor patio.
Best New Event
The newest Halloween event in Grapevine was a huge success this year. The event was set at the always fun Vineyard’s Campground and Cabins. With train rides for kids, haunted trails, ghost stories and much more the event was a blast. We are looking forward to the 2012 event already.
It is really, really hard to top Grapefest each year. Maybe it will happen one day. Hmmm… maybe not. All the live music combined with watching the Grapestomps each year. Grapefest may never lose in this category.
Best City Council Member
Combine great energy, an enthusiasm for Grapevine, and a unique perspective and you have Darlene Freed. Thanks Darlene for all you do for our city.
Best Highway Construction
DFW Connector Project
Northgate contractors who are running the massive amounts of construction around Highways 114 and 121 really are doing a good job with a hugely complex task.
William D. Tate and Highway 114 <———- (Major sarcasm here).
That intersection is awful. We are reserving judgement on best intersection until all the construction ends in Grapevine.
Best Place to See Live Music
There is just a great vibe at Tolbert’s. Where else in Grapevine would you want to go?
Honorable mention to the Glass Cactus. Yes, we like going there too.
This place is a hidden gem on Main Street in Grapevine. If you need gift ideas for yourself or others, this is the place for you. Almost forgot to mention they always have a free sample of one of their great coffees for shoppers.
Best Retail Shop on Main Street
Beyond the Red Door
With outstanding service and a lot of cool items to choose from, this is the best retail shop on Main Street in 2011.
Honorable mention to Main Street Station which is alway a lot of fun to visit.
Sea Life Aquarium
Sorry Legoland, the new Sea Life Aquarium in Grapevine Mills Mall is a sight to be seen. The 360 degree tunnel is pretty incredible.
Best Non-Profit Organization
Honorable mention to Grapevine Relief and Community Exchange (GRACE).
The New Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Building
(It opens next March from what we hear)
Best Outdoor Patio
The Glass Cactus at the Gaylord Hotel
The patio at the Glass Cactus is really tough to beat. It has a great view of the lake and is the perfect place to be on one of those picture perfect spring nights.
“Wide open spaces, room to make big mistakes…” Parr Park is beautiful and has plenty of room to roam.
Best Special Event
We had a blast and it was all for a great cause.
Cassie’s Frozen Yogurt
Cassie’s Frozen Yogurt is always a delicious stop on Main Street.
Best Running Club
Grapevine Runners and Walkers
(see best Italian Restaurant from yesterday’s article)
Parade of Lights
Was there more than one parade this year?
Best Mother’s Day Brunch
Hilton DFW Lakes
With endless mimosas and wonderful food, the Mother’s Day Brunch at the Hilton DFW Lakes was a wonderful experience.
Love it. We wish we had one of these things. One day someone will build an RV that will go both on land and water. The future is awesome!
Wow. There were so many great things going on in Grapevine this year. We hope you enjoyed our year end Best of Grapevine 2011 awards.
Best to you and yours.
