With all the new restaurants popping up around Grapevine lately, it is hard to make it out to all of them. We did make it out to the recently opened The Flats Bar & Grill.
The Flats is located on Hall Johnson Road where Zu Roma used to be. The inside has been completely re-done. The place now feels like a very good neighborhood sports bar.
While there, we did sample a couple of appetizers. We tried the meatballs because we had never heard of that as an appetizer and they were good (pictured below). Then we tried the Handmade Fried Mozzarella sticks. They were very good. You have your choice of either mozzarella or pepper jack.
The bar and seating areas are pretty wide open. There are plenty of flat screen televisions around the restaurant for viewing whatever sports happen to be on.
We also have it on very good authority that the Ferrell Burger should not be missed. Although, we must warn you it is not really a burger. It’s pulled pork with blue cheese crumbles and sauteed onions served on a sweet sourdough bun. Thanks as always to our good friend CW for sharing just a small portion of his vast knowledge.
Overall, The Flats is a really good place to eat, drink, and watch sports. If you stop in please tell the bartender Crystal that we said hello. Enjoy.
