According to an article in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Gardens of Grapevine project has filed for bankruptcy. The plans for the Gardens of Grapevine site included an Asian dream garden and a world villages complex with five star hotels. The project was backed by former Texas Ranger great Rafael Palmeiro.
Almost two years ago, we read a press release about the World Villages of Grapevine and started to do some research. After finding very few details (and the lack of a start date) for the project we concluded that the project must lack funding. You can find our original article on the World Villages of Grapevine here. This week our conclusions were proven to be very accurate.
The location of the World Villages was to be near Grapevine Mills Mall. Roughly 17 acres of the Gardens of Grapevine land is now likely to be sold to Lincoln Properties which mostly builds and leases high end apartments.
We liked the idea of luxury shopping and five star hotels coming to Grapevine, especially in that great location. It would have added attractions to the area between the Gaylord Texan Hotel and Grapevine Mills Mall / Bass Pro Shops. Now it looks like we will be looking at more apartments in that area instead.
