While it is maybe not as big a shopping weekend as Thanksgiving weekend, it is a great weekend to shop. This weekend, August 20th to 22nd is a sales tax holiday in Texas on most school supplies, backpacks, and clothing items.
Grapevine Mills Mall has more than 180 retail and outlet stores ready to go this weekend.
Tax free items include:

- Calculators
- Cellophane tape
- Blackboard chalk
- Compasses
- Composition books
- Crayons
- Erasers
- And other school supplies
- Baby clothes
- Backpacks for use by elementary and secondary students
- Belts with attached buckles
- Boots – cowboy, hiking
- Caps/hats – baseball, fishing, golf, knitted
- Coats and wraps
- Diapers – adult and baby
- Dresses
- Gloves (generally)
- Gym suits and uniforms
- Hooded shirts and hooded sweatshirts
- Hosiery
- Jackets
- Jeans
- Jerseys – baseball and football
- And many other clothing items
