In an era of tight city budgets, it is no surprise that the City of Colleyville chose not to change the speed limit on one of the biggest speed traps in the area. On Hall-Johnson Road the speed limit changes from 35 mph down to 30 mph as you leave Grapevine and enter Colleyville. Not only is there little warning, but there is also a little hill on that part of the road. And typically sitting at the bottom of the hill in an old Colleyville Fire Station parking lot is a Colleyville police cruiser.
We have seen more people pulled over in this location than anywhere else we have ever driven (okay, excluding Rio Vista, Texas). It is pure speculation, but we would guess that the Colleyville police are not sitting there every day just to give out warnings to drivers who miss the speed limit change and then hit that down hill slope. If they are actually issuing tickets, which is likely, this has to be a decent source of revenue for the city.
No wonder little consideration was given to change the speed limit. In fact, I bet if we drive by there right now we would see that same Colleyville police cruiser sitting there. (I wonder if he would mind if I take a photo of him sitting there for this article?)
Everyone be safe out there and remember to keep your speed low on Hall-Johnson Road.

FYI… Rio Vista fired its police force a while back…. not so much of speed trap there now a days, but it still pays to slow down… say, wasn’t that picture of a Grapevine Police crusier… not a Collyevile?
Yes, it is a photo of a Grapvine Police car. Unfortunately, that is all we have in our limited stock photos.
I did see a Colleyville Police vehicle this morning, but didn’t have the camera with me.
