The official groundbreaking ceremony will be on March 2nd, but as you can see from the photos the work has already begun.  The construction will take about a year to complete.  The roughly 40,000 square foot building will be on the 600 block of Main Street across from Weinberger’s Deli.

In addition to housing the offices of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the building will contain a Grapevine historical museum, a Visitors Information Center, and room for some retail shops.  We wonder if they will save any space for Grapevine Tx Online.  Maybe a balcony or a small closet?  Or maybe some room in the 110 foot clock tower?  We only need space for a laptop and some wireless access.

According to the Grapevine Courier:

Its design, reminiscent of late 19th and early 20th century architecture, illustrates periods of Grapevine’s history. Different facades will create the appearance of separate historical buildings, such as a railroad station, hotel and businesses.

It is pretty hard to argue with the growth of tourism in Grapevine.  So I guess you could say they have earned the $9.8M facility.
