Freezing Weather Approaching

Freezing Weather Approaching

The weather team is reporting that we will have freezing temperatures from Thursday to Saturday this week.  Here are some things to do to stay safe and prepared during the freeze.  Now is the time to protect your home from pipes bursting.

  • Cover all outdoor faucets with faucet covers.
  • Keep garage doors closed if there are water supply lines in the garage.
  • Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warmer air to circulate around the plumbing.
  • Turn on indoor faucets to a drip to keep pipes from freezing.
  • Keep the thermostat set to the same temperature both during the day and at night. You want your pipes to stay warm even when you are not home.

Keep in mind that most of your body heat is lost through your head so be sure to wear a hat or something to cover your head including your ears.

Make sure your vehicles have antifreeze.

We are sure there are other tips we are leaving out, if you know of any please leave them below in the comments section.

And we also agree with I’m COLD. Cold weather is good and bad. But it is a lot better if your pipes don’t freeze. :)
