Carrabba’s Italian Grill has $17k in cash stolen
As reported in the Grapevine Courier police blotter section:
SEPT. 4: 12:17 p.m., investigation continues of possible internal theft of $17,135.20 from Carrabba’s Italian Grill, 1701 Cross Roads.
First of all, $17k seems like a lot of cash for a place like that. What do they do, one bank drop per week? It might be time to increase the frequency of bank drops.
What percentage of transactions at restaurants are completed in cash versus credit? I’d guess it is somewhere around 25-30% of transactions are cash. That Carrabba’s is pretty busy, and as a side note, is also very good. Maybe they generate an average of $20k in revenue per night. I guess there is a chance that $6k of that is in cash. So maybe this is just three or four nights of receipts? Either way, we’d love to hear more details on this story. It seems like a lot of cash to lose to an internal thief.
